Jeddah hotels occupancy touches 64% in May, highest since September 2019
Saudi Arabia:
The hotel industry in Jeddah has reported its highest performance level since
September 2019, with the occupancy rate touching 64 percent in May, according to
preliminary data released by global hospitality insight provider STR.
As a strong indication of the sector’s rebound
after the pandemic, Jeddah hotels saw their average daily rates rising to
SR901.40 ($240) in May, helping them to record a better revenue per available
room, or RevPAR, at SR580.62, the STR data revealed.
While the Saudi hospitality industry has been on a
growth trajectory, the figures are still lower than the pre-pandemic levels when
compared with May 2019.
Compared to May 2019, the occupancy is 6.4 percent
lower in May 2022, while the average daily rate and the RevPAR are also down
29.4 percent and 33.9 percent respectively.
